My state of physical well-being is trash.
Well, that’s a bit dramatic, but overall, it’s not good.
At the beginning of the year I decided to change my lifestyle because I had gained nearly 20 pounds (yikes) over the course of ONE semester.
You know how everyone talks about the Freshman 15? Well this was the Junior 20.
I blame the restaurant I waitressed at for that one.
Nonetheless, I wasn’t feeling my body at all because even though I gained some in the back (insert peach emoji), I gained some in the front as well.
And these rolls just ain’t it, sis.
I had a roommate at the time who was in the military, and worked out religiously, so we decided she’d be my trainer.
I got into the groove of working out three times a week, and I felt really good.
The problem was my discipline, or lack thereof, with food.
One cheat meal a week would quickly turn into three, and things just spiraled downhill from there.
By then time I came back from spring break, not only was my diet in the toilet, but I had stopped working out.
And I haven’t worked out all summer.
But I plan to change that.
I leave for my LAST year of school (Thank GOD!) in a few days, and I noticed that I’m more disciplined in all aspects when I’m away from home.
I guess it’s that independent factor, or whatever. Regardless, I know I’m not surrounded by home cooked meals and family members with sweet tooth’s and midnight eating habits.
I’ve been hearing about the Keto diet forever, and how it works wonders, so I’m gonna try that out when I leave for school.
I have to buy groceries for my apartment, and I’m only going to buy healthy foods, so I’m not tempted to get a bad snack when I get back from the gym.
With that being said, you guys are gonna get a front row seat to this Keto journey of mine.
I’m hoping that by sharing this with the world, it’ll force me to stay on track, because no one wants to fail publicly.
I also want to let you know now, that the physical well-being aspect of #TheMelaninPerspective will be much more than just workouts and dieting.
We’re going to cover diseases, necessary check-ups, sexual health, and many other things of that nature, so be prepared to take notes.
Because we can’t live our best lives if we’re dead.
That was a bit of a buzz kill, but it’s the truth. Anywho…
I’m super excited about this journey, guys, and hopefully some of you will join the force with me.
Let’s get to work, sis!
